Niles library to host picnic

LIBRARY PICNIC: The Friends of the McKinley Memorial Library will host a community picnic at 5:30 p.m. Thursday on the lawn of the McKinley Memorial Library in downtown Niles. Cin City and the Saints will perform classic rock, motown and oldies music at 6:30 p.m. The event will include food and a basket raffle.

EASTERSEALS OPEN HOUSE: Easterseals of Northeast Ohio, 200 Edwards St., Youngstown, will have an open house from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. today. The public will have the opportunity to see client artwork, meet the staff, visit program tables and have a chance to win raffle prizes. For information, call 330-743-1168 or neo.easterseals.com.

LITERACY PROGRAM: The Pride and Joy Today Foundation will have a literacy improvement program for children 5 to 7 p.m. Thursdays at the Highland Terrace Community Center, 377 Lane Ave., Warren. Children will take part in various activities. The program runs Thursday and Aug. 5 and 13.

SCRAMBLE: Ali Baba Grotto is hosting a four-person golf scramble at 7 p.m. Aug. 15 at the Old Avalon Golf Course, 9794 E Market St., Warren. Shotgun start is at 8:30 a.m. Cost is $75 per person and includes golf, beverages, coffee and donuts, lunch and dinner. This outing raises money for special needs children. There will be prizes for first-, second- and third-place teams.

JCC SPEAKER SERIES: As part of its J. Newman Levy Speaker Series, the Jewish Community Center of Youngstown will present "The Klezmer Orchestra: Klezmer's Greatest Hits," at 5:30 p.m. Monday at the JCC, 505 Gypsy Lane. Participants will enjoy an evening of lively Klezmer music with The Klezmer Orchestra. Performing in Northeast Ohio since 1995, the ensemble features traditional contemporary songs from around the world in Yiddish, English, Russianand Hebrew, celebrating the rich spirit and heritage of Klezmer music.

ADULT DAY CAMP: The Jewish Community Center of Youngstown is offering "Camp Kid Again," a day camp for adults, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 4 to 7. "Camp Kid Again" is for adults who are kids at heart. Participants will enjoy art activities, exercise and movement, cooking demonstrations and more. Lunch is included. The cost is $24 for one day and $54 for all four days. CARD SHOW: The Steel Valley Card Show will take place 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday at the Eastwood Event Centre in Niles. The show will feature vendor tables filled with sports cards, Pokemon, trading card games, comics, memorabilia, collectibles supplies and more.
