GROUNDBREAKING EVENT: Community leaders, residents and project partners will gather at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Howland branch of the Warren-Trumbull County Public Library, 9095 E. Market St., to celebrate the groundbreaking for the library's expansion and renovation project. The ceremony marks the start of construction on the project that will provide expanded recreational, educational and gathering space for residents of all ages by adding 1,400-square-feet onto the Howland Library, renovating the interior and making critical infrastructure updates. Guided tours of planned changes to the library will be available during the groundbreaking event. To accommodate construction activities during the second phase of the project, the Howland Library will be closed beginning Sept. 8 and continuing throughout the duration of construction. Project completion and library reopening is anticipated in March 2027.

BAND TO PERFORM: The National McKinley Birthplace Memorial Museum in Niles will host Canton's Grand Army Band at 6:30 p.m. Friday. Joseph Rubin, one of the leading authorities on early American musical theater and founder of the nonprofit American Music Productions, will be conducting the band. The event is meant to capture when McKinley listened to songs from his front porch in Canton on July 27, 1901. Those attending can bring a lawn chair since the concert will be on the museum grounds.
CHRISTMAS IN JULY: The Mahoning Valley Scrappers will have "Christmas in July" Saturday with an Elf Night jersey available, with proceeds to help the Salvation Army. There will be special appearances by the Kringles and the Clauses.
NO GARAGE SALE: Bazetta Christian Church, 4131 Bazetta Road, will have a "No garage-garage sale" 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday in the church parking lot. Spaces are $10 each. Participants keep all proceeds from the sale. To reserve a space, call the church at 330-637-6312.
