Park plans beach party

The seeing eye

BEACH BASH: The sixth annual Mosquito Lake Beach Bash will take place 5 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the park beach area and pavilion. The event will include free concerts by local bands, food trucks, 50-50 drawings and recreational activities. Those attending can take a lawn chair.

MOVE THE VALLEY JUNETEENTH EVENTS: The Healthy Community Partnership, the Mercy Health Stepping Out Program, Youngstown State University Campus Recreation and the Warren Farmers Market have expanded Move the Valley, a new and expanded version of the longtime Walk the Valley initiative, to the Warren Farmers Market.

The goal of Move the Valley is to improve residents’ physical and mental health with regular outdoor physical activity and social connections to create a sense of community and belonging. Group walks and rides are ways to promote and use local public facilities like parks and bike infrastructure.

Representatives will be at local community Juneteenth events 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday at Quinby Park, 525 Austin Ave. SW, Warren; and 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the Juneteenth Celebration at Wean Park, 201 S. Phelps St., Youngstown.

FISHING DERBY: A fishing derby is set for 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at the Lakeview Recreation area at Mosquito Lake State Park in Bazetta. Naturalist activities and prizes for the best anglers will also be awarded. This event is for ages 15 and under. The event is sponsored by the Friends of Mosquito Lake State Park.
