Church sets cookout for Saturday

COMMUNITY COOKOUT: The South Eastside Community Association (SESCA) fifth annual Community Cookout Day cosponsored by the Society of St. Vincent de Paul will take place from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at the St. Vincent de Paul Dining Hall, 2355 Niles Road SE. The family event will include rides, games and community support. Donations or gift baskets are welcome.

STAR QUILTERS: The Ohio Star Quilt Guild will meet at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Howland SCOPE Center, 8273 High St. NE, Howland. Allison Smith, a member of the Braceville African American Heritage Museum, will present a program on the Underground Railroad and show how quilts were used. A light lunch will follow the program.

YOGA EVENT: The McKinley Memorial Library Yoga Wednesday, will be 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday. Join Mary Brown of A Moment for Me Yoga and Wellness Center at the McKinley Birthplace Home for a yoga session featuring standing and sitting postures on the floor. Bring your own yoga mat. Registration is required at 330-652-1704, ext. 3.

CAR SHOW: Adult Day Services at Heritage Manor, 517 Gypsy Lane, Youngstown, will host a classic car show noon to 2 p.m. Friday. The event is intended to celebrate Father’s Day with clients. Included will be food, music and prizes. Those with classic cars are invited to join the free event.

RETIRED RALROADERS: All retired and active railroaders are invited to attend National Association of Retired and Veteran Railway Employees monthly meeting 11 a.m. Thursday at JP’s Pizzeria, 15946 State Route 170, Calcutta, Doors open at 10 a.m. For information call Rocci at 330-853-3045.
