Car show set at Champion High School

CHAMPION CAR SHOW: Champion High School will host a car show to support its athletics and booster programs from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the high school parking lot off Mahoning Avenue, Registration is $10 per car. The show will feature 100 free car plaques, cash and basket raffles, and additional activities.

COMMUNITY EVENT: The Southeast Side Community Association will host the third annual summer resident engagement event from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday in partnership with St. Theresa of Calcutta Parish at the church property, 2532 Burton Street, Warren. There will be food, games, horse-drawn wagon rides, basket raffle and entertainment.

LIVE OUT LOUD: Corner House Christian Church, 6954 Chestnut Ridge Road, Hubbard, will host “Live out Loud,” a free Christian hip-hop concert at 6 p.m. Saturday. The event will include music, testimony and community outreach. A love offering will be accepted to support Larry Lenuel, who will be on a mission trip to Africa where he will serve through youth camps and discipleship.

MONTHLY MEETING: St. Joseph Warren Hospital Retiree’s will meet at 9:30 a.m. Monday at Wayside Restaurant. Retired and former employees from St. Joseph or Warren General Hospital are welcome to attend. Attendees are requested to bring nonperishable items for food bank donation.

FALLS FARMERS MARKET: Newton Falls Farmers Market will be 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesdays. The market will feature more than 20 local vendors offering farm-fresh produce, baked goods, honey, jams, flowers and other locally produced goods with additional vendors and activities expected throughout the season.

ARCHERY RANGE: Mosquito Lake State Park in Bazetta is offering an archery program at the range located near the campground parking lot. Volunteers and the park naturalist will teach archery and BB gun basics with an emphasis on safety. This program is for all ages.

TNR BUILD DAY: Trap, Neuter, Release will host a cat shelter build day for the public from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at 397 Folsom St., Champion. Volunteers are needed to help construct cat houses.

DINOSAUR TOUR: McKinley Memorial Library will present Dinosaur Discovery Tour from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday. Children are invited to take a walk through the ages and learn about 10 prehistoric creatures. Fun facts will be scattered around the first floor of the McKinley Memorial Library, and those who complete the tour can enter to win a prize. Prizes must be picked up at the McKinley Memorial Library in Niles. Prizes will not be delivered.

BIRDS OF THE WORLD: A Birds of the World program will take place at 1 p.m. Monday at the Ramsay Pavilion at Woodland Park, McDonald. Raptor Hollow Sanctuary will bring a variety of bird species to the show. To celebrate America’s 250th anniversary a bald eagle will be among the birds featured. Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Arrive at 12:50 p.m.

FEAST DAY: Sts. Peter and Paul Croatian Roman Catholic Parish, 421 Covington St., Youngstown, will celebrate Feast Day at 6 p.m. Monday with a Mass and reception. This will be the parish’s last Mass. On Thursday the church would have celebrated 115 years in Youngstown.

DENTAL CLINIC: McKinley Memorial Library will present Mercy Health Mobile Dental Clinic from 8:45 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. today at the McKinley Birthplace Home, to provide comprehensive care and education to underserved children and adults. Staffed by a team of dentists and hygienists, the Mobile Smile Station provides teeth cleaning, fillings, X-rays, referrals, education and more. Anyone can use the service, regardless of ability to pay. Limited appointments are available on a first-come, first-served basis. A scheduled appointment is required. WELLNESS ON WHEELS: In honor of National HIV Testing Day, the Warren City Health District will be providing free HIV, Hepatitis C, and syphilis testing from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. today on the Wellness on Wheels at Walgreens, 3390 Elm Road NE, Warren.
