FEED THE NEED RUN: On Saturday, Second Harvest Food Bank of the Mahoning Valley invites the community to the inaugural Feed the Need Fun Run, a 0.1-mile charity “race.”

The event will take place at Firestone Farms in Columbiana. The Feed the Need Fun Run is a 0.1-mile walk / run where every tiny step helps provide meals for neighbors facing food insecurity across the Mahoning Valley. Participants can jog, walk, dance, skip or power-strut their way to the finish line.

The family-friendly event will feature free ice cream for participants, keepsake cups, a bounce house and kids activities, music, food trucks and games. Participants are encouraged to dress up and embrace the silly spirit of the day.

Registration will take place 10 to 10:45 a.m., followed by the Kids Run (12 and under) at 11 a.m., the Adult Run (over 12) at 11:30 a.m. and an awards ceremony at noon. Activities continue after the race.

Registration is $10 per participant, which includes race entry, a keepsake cup, a free ice cream treat and access to all activities. Participants are encouraged to bring a nonperishable food item to receive a ticket for a prize drawing. Every can collected helps stock shelves and provide meals for local families in need.
