Talk focuses on spotting scams

The seeing eye

SCAM TALK: Dave Long, a columnist for The Vindicator and Tribune Chronicle, gives a monthly lecture on scams targeting seniors and how to avoid them on the fourth Thursday of each month at 1 p.m. at the Poland Township Government Center. The next one is today.

LIBERTY CLEANUP: Liberty Township will host its 31st annual community litter cleanup 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. Any clubs, groups or families interested in cleaning a neighborhood street can meet at the township administration building, where they will be assigned a street or choose one. Students who need community service credit hours can find the sign-in sheet at the administration building. The event is being sponsored by the Geauga-Trumbull Solid Waste Management District and Liberty trustees, who will supply bags, gloves and giveaways.

CAREER FAIR: Ohio Means Jobs Trumbull County will host a career fair 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. today at the Eastwood Mall in Niles. Jobseekers can meet local employers, explore openings and build their network.

EARTH DAY CLEANUP: An Earth Day cleanup will be 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Quinby Park, 525 Austin Ave., Warren. Community Concerned Citizens II is sponsoring the 22nd annual event. Volunteers are welcome to assist. Those who can help are asked to bring rakes, shovels, wheelbarrows, blowers and other items. The Geauga-Trumbull Solid Waste will supply bags and latex gloves. There will be snacks for volunteers.
