Historical society to get on board for railroad talk

RAILROAD TALK: The Fowler Township Historical Society will host a railroad program presentation noon to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Fowler Community Center. A talk will take place at 2 p.m. with railroad historian Rick Fleischer, who will discuss his trip to Ashtabula on the railroad. There will be refreshments at 1 p.m. The event is one of several events planned for America250.

BENEFIT CONCERT: St. Robert Bellarmine Church, 2658 state Route 46, Cortland, is hosting a benefit concert at 7 p.m. Saturday for the Rev. Carl Kish Scholarship Fund, which was established in 2016 to support graduating seniors. The event will include musical performances.The church’s youth group will sponsor the concert. A free-will donation will be accepted.

YOUTH FISHING DERBY: A youth trout fishing derby will be 9 a.m. Saturday at the Trumbull Rod and Gun Club, 6565 Phillips Rice Road, Cortland. Registration is set for 8 a.m. The event is free and open to youth ages 16 and younger. Youths must be accompanied by an adult or guardian. Fish bait and supplies will be available. There is a limit of five trout per person.

INSPIRING MINDS GALA: Inspiring Minds will celebrate its 20th annual fundraising gala 2 to 5 p.m. April 25 at its headquarters, 837 Woodland St. NE, Warren. This year’s gala, presented by 7 17 Credit Union, marks a major milestone for the organization as it celebrates 20 years of Inspiring Minds and the thousands of students whose lives have been impacted through its programming.

The gala will showcase a new format this year featuring a seated culinary experience intertwined with student and community presentations. The event will include student testimonials, volunteer testimonials, the Class of 2027 senior presentation and alumni testimonials.

Inspiring Minds serves students in Mahoning and Trumbull counties.

TITANIC AFTERMATH: The Bristol Public Library welcomes Tom Phoolery at 5 p.m. Monday to present “Titanic: The Aftermath.” This is part two of “Titanic: Tragedy of Errors.” Registration is required at 330-889-3651.
