Liberty opens police department

OPEN HOUSE IN LIBERTY: The Liberty Township Police Department will host an open house starting at 5:30 p.m. today followed by a town hall at 6 p.m. The public can tour the police department off Churchill Road, meet police officers and get clarity on the police levy that is on the May primary ballot. Guest speakers will be State Rep. David Thomas and police Chief Ray Buhala.

WELLNESS ON WHEELS: The Warren City Health District’s Wellness on Wheels will be onsite 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Friday at Parkman Landing Apartments, 2501 Parkman Road NW, Warren. All services are available for Warren residents as well as the surrounding areas. For information, call 330-841-2596

HOME AND GARDEN SHOW: The Geauga Home and Garden Show will feature more than 120 vendors across three buildings and two locations in Middlefield. Now in its 19th year, the annual event will take place 9 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Friday, and 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. The show will span two buildings at Heritage Marketplace and one large building at nearby Fisher Flooring. Admission is $10, with children under 18 admitted free.

LATTES WITH LEGISLATORS: The Stadium Club, Youngstown State University, will host Lattes with Legislators from 7:30 to 9 a.m. Friday at YSU, 305 Wick Ave., Youngstown.

State Representative Ty Mathews and House Majority Whip Nick Santucci will discuss issues impacting our region and state.

Representative Ty Mathews is serving his first term in the Ohio House and represents Hancock, Hardin and northern Logan counties. A U.S. Army National Guard officer and Iraq War veteran, Mathews serves as Vice Chair of the House Veteran and Military Development Committee and sits on the Development, Government Oversight and Natural Resources committees.

House Majority Whip Nick Santucci, currently in his second term, represents portions of Trumbull County and serves as Majority Whip, Chairman of the Sunset Review Committee and Vice Chair of the Ohio House Redistricting Committee. Before being elected, Santucci spent years advancing workforce and education initiatives in the Mahoning Valley, including leadership roles with the Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber and regional education organizations.
