Jewish Community Center to host Purim Carnival

PURIM CARNIVAL: The Jewish Community Center of Youngstown will hold a Purim Carnival from noon to 3 p.m. Sunday at 505 Gypsy Lane. Carnival games and food will be from noon to 2 p.m. The costume contest will be at 2:15 p.m. Admission is free. Game play is unlimited with a $10 wristband. Food is available for purchase. All families are welcome. Purim commemorates the saving of the Jewish people from Haman, an Achaemenid Persian Empire official who was planning to kill all the Jews in the empire, as recounted in the Book of Esther.

AAUW TO MEET: American Association of University Women Warren Trumbull will meet at 5:30 p.m. on Monday at Shepherd of the Valley – Howland, 4100 N. River Road, Warren. Following dinner and a business meeting, members will participate in a trivia program centered on women.

CRIBS FOR KIDS: The Warren City Health District will be providing a Cribs for Kids Class at 2 p.m. on Monday at the Warren City Health District, 258 East Market St. Call 330-841-2596 to register.

BENEFIT EVENT: St. Patrick Church, 1320 Oak Hill Ave., Youngstown, will hold a benefit dinner from noon to 3 p.m. Sunday at the church to help Sleep in Heavenly Peace.

CHILDREN’S PROGRAM: The Girard Free Library will host a children’s program at noon Saturday for ages 5 to 12. Each month, children take part in hands-on activities and have allocation-related snacks about a different state or country. This month’s activities involve Italy. DUELING PIANOS: The fourth annual Pink Ribbon Dueling Piano Night to Benefit Breast Cancer Initiatives will be held from 5 to 10 p.m. Saturday at the Maronite Center, 1555 S. Meridian Road, Youngstown. The Zeta Tau Alpha Youngstown Alumnae Chapter is hosting the fundraiser. The evening will feature The T & Rich Dueling Piano Show. Guests will enjoy a full Italian dinner and dessert. A cash bar will be available, along with raffles and opportunities to win prizes. Proceeds from the event will benefit breast cancer initiatives through the Zeta Tau Alpha Foundation, the Joanie Abdu Comprehensive Breast Care Center at St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital and Pink Lights the Way.
