Pet blessing set for Saturday
PET BLESSING: St. Francis of Assisi pet blessing will take place at 10 a.m. Saturday at the All Soul’s Cemetery, 3823 Hoagland Blackstub Road, Cortland. Bring your pet or a photo of them to receive a special blessing in the spirit of St. Francis, who cherished all of God’s creatures. Guests are encouraged to bring a donation for the Animal Welfare League of Trumbull County. Each donation enters people in a chance to win a pet gift basket. For information call 330-637-2761.
BIRTHDAY BIKE RIDE: The 22nd Garrett Wonders Birthday Bike Ride will take place 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, beginning and ending at the Trumbull County Veterans Services Commission Building, 253 E. Market St., Warren. Participants can enjoy rides of 20, 30, 40 or 50 miles on the Garrett Wonders Bike Trail, the Trumbull County Greenway and adjoining roads.
Registration opens at 8 a.m. Participants will receive a T-shirt and a goodie bag. Refreshments and cookie stops are provided along the routes.
There will be raffles and door prizes throughout the day. Raffle tickets can be purchased at the starting building; winners do not need to be present.
Proceeds go to the Garrett Wonders Memorial Fund, which provides scholarships to students at Warren G. Harding High School and The Ohio State University. OPEN HOUSE: The Girard Fire Department, 105 E. Liberty St., will host an open house from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday. The public can see fire equipment and vehicles and visit with fire department staff.
CHILDREN’S PROGRAMMING: Children’s programming will resume in October at the Bristol Public Library. Story Time, for those ages 3-5, will be at 10 a.m. on Mondays. Sessions will begin on Monday and will end on Oct. 27.
Children will enjoy stories, songs and games during each session. This is the perfect opportunity for your child to learn to interact and socialize as they make new friends as well as learn to be away from parents or caregivers.

NEIGHBORHOOD MEETING: The Northwest Neighborhood Association will host its monthly meeting at 6:30 p.m. on Monday at Grace Methodist Church, located on Drexel Avenue.
Speaker will be Mike Keys, Director, Community Development.
The Association is collecting socks for the Warren Family Mission and nonperishable food items for the church pantry. All are welcome.
DONATION DROP OFFS: Trinity Lutheran Church, 2742 North Road NE, Warren, will host a donation drop off from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. Monday for Katharina’s Closet. Donations of diapers, wipes, and baby clothes are being accepted. Do not leave donations on the narthex porch. For arranging a drop off call 330-647-6402.
HOWL-O-WEEN AT PARK: The Friends of Mosquito Lake State Park will host a Howl-O-Ween event for dogs at noon to 3 p.m. Sunday at the park near the playground and beach. The fundraising event held the group fund maintenance and improvements at the Mosquito Lake Dog Park. There will be vendors, food, games, craft, costume contest and parade, Costume contest is $10 per dog..
READ TO K9 FRIENDS: The Girard Free Library will host K9s for Compassion where children up to age 12 can read to a trained therapy dog friend at 6 p.m. Monday. Registration is required at the library.
AAUW GUEST: Denise Horsley, legal advocacy supervisor for Someplace Safe, will be the speaker at the Monday meeting of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) Warren-Trumbull Branch.

ONEOHIO TO MEET: The OneOhio Region 7 Collaborative of the OneOhio Foundation will host its meeting at 5 p.m. on Monday at Direction Home of Eastern Ohio, 1030 N Meridian Road, Youngstown.
IMMUNIZATIONS: The Warren City Health District will provide a public Children’s Immunization Clinic from 9 to 11 a.m. and 1 to 3 p.m. on Monday at the health district, 258 E. Market St., Warren. No appointment needed. Bring updated shot records.
