ALUMNI TO MEET: The Mineral Ridge High School alumni association will meet at 6 p.m. Thursday at the school library. Alumni wishing to work on the committee as well as members of the Class of 1976 are asked to attend. PERI TO MEET: The Trumbull County Public Employee Retirees Inc. (PERI) will meet Wednesday at Shepherd of the Valley, 4100 North River Road, Warren.
This month’s program will be presented by Gil Rieger, who will share his adventure of climbing Mount Kilimanjaro. Shortly after 9/11, Gil met up with his son, a West Point graduate serving in the U.S. Army at the time. Together, they traveled from Germany to Tanzania for this remarkable climb. Gil will provide a detailed account of the journey and what it’s like to make such a climb.
All members and public employees and retirees are invited to attend. Doors open at 10:30 a.m. and the meeting starts at 10:45. A $10 luncheon will follow the program.

LIBRARY CRAFTERS: The Girard Free Library will host the Cozy Crafters at 6 p.m today for people who knit, crochet, and embroider. The group can socialize while working on their projects.
DEER SEASON: The Trumbull County MetroParks deer season lottery for the 2025-26 deer hunting season will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the park office in Howland. Hunters do not have to be in attendance.
HISTORY OF FOOTBALL: The National McKinley Birthplace Museum will welcome Vince Guerreri for a program noon to 2 p.m. Saturday. He will discuss the great teams, history making games and efforts for football. The first high school football game was played in Ohio in 1890.
SIP AND PAINT: The McKinley Memorial Library in Niles will host a Sober Sip and Paint with Party Art Cafe and Studio 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. Participants will create an autumnal work of art under the guidance of Party Art Cafe and Studio's Timothy Milliner. Enjoy non-alcoholic sparkling water while creating your masterpiece. ALZHEIMERS SUPPORT: The Alzheimer Network is hosting two important community events this September to support families, caregivers and individuals impacted by Alzheimer's disease and related dementias.
Families are encouraged to attend a free Legal Seminar designed to help them review legal documents and business records to best prepare for a loved one's future care needs. The program is 7 p.m. Thursday at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 2305 S. Canfield Niles Road, Austintown. The Alzheimer Network is also offering a Caregiver Series with two Saturday morning sessions. Handouts will be provided, and participants can attend one or both sessions.
Session 1 will be 10 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday with a topic of Alzheimer's Behaviors, Medications, & More.
Session 2 will be 10 to 11:30 a.m. Sept. 20 with a topic of Learn About Community Services to Help / Coping with Changes for Patient & Family. Location to be announced at the first session.
