CLEANUP DAY: Youngstown CityScape and 422 United: Clean and Green are joining forces for 2025 World Cleanup Day Saturday as volunteers take to the street from 9 a.m. to noon along Route 422, Martin Luther King Boulevard and nearby streets to beautify the area. Lunch will be at Stambaugh Park in Girard. Participants will include Vallourec, officials and residents from the cities of Youngstown and Girard, Metalico Youngstown and representatives of the Mahoning Valley Manufacturers Coalition. STEPS OF HOPE WALK: St. Vincent de Paul Society will host the 4th annual Steps of Hope Walk, formerly Friends of the Poor Walk, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday in Perkins Park, Warren. The national advocacy event raises community awareness and funds for families and individuals experiencing food and income insecurity.
The walk will coincide with 250 other St. Vincent de Paul chapters nationwide to raise awareness for local community members in need. It is open to the public via registration, will feature family-friendly activities, including a bounce house, live music from the local band N.O.K.A., is supported by 44 local sponsors, will provide a free lunch, basket raffle and social gathering for participants, and is expected to have nearly 400 participants. TALE OF MOBY DICK: McKinley Memorial Library will present "Moby Dick: A Tale of Nationalism, Imperialism and Industrialization" 2 to 3 p.m. Saturday at the McKinley Birthplace Home in Niles.
