Braceville to learn pioneer stories

The seeing eye

STORYTELLING: Braceville’s America 250 celebration will include a monthly storytelling speaker series at 2 p.m. Sunday at the township hall. The August event is Braceville Pioneer Family History, which will feature historians from the community sharing family history and memories. Each month will be a different topic and lead up to the big event in July 2026.

CAMPFIRE: The Moss Ancestral Home, 1499 Burnett St., Mineral Ridge, will have an Indian Campfire at 8 p.m. Saturday. Bill Moss will be Wowston as he uses Indian artifacts to entertain. Those attending can bring a lawn chair. The Moss Ancestral Home will be open for tours from 6 to 8 p.m. prior to the campfire.

The Moss Ancestral Home and Mineral Ridge Historical Society, 1499 and 1476 Burnett St., will be open 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday The Moss Ancestral Home is a unique Pennsylvania Bank Style house built in the early 1800s and the historical society is loaded with artifacts and pictures of Mineral Ridge and the surrounding area.

CAR SHOW: The Mahoning Valley Car Cruises super show will be Saturday at UAW Local 1112, 11471 Reuther Drive SW, Warren. The show will feature hundreds of hot rods and muscle cars, old and new, and original and custom. There will be door prizes and a basket raffle, Registration per car is $10. Spectators can attend for free. Proceeds from the event will stay in the valley and benefit American Legion Post 301 in Austintown.

BUTTERFLIES IN BRISTOL: The Bristol Public Library will present a program about monarch butterflies and other pollinators at 1 p.m. Tuesday. This educational program for young learners, kindergarten through sixth grade, is hosted by Rayna Lambert, Girl Scout Gold Award candidate. The program will feature a reading of Rayna’s Gold Award project, a picture book she wrote and illustrated, titled “Mission: Monarch.” A make and take craft and a take home craft will be provided, along with a packet of milkweed seeds. Registration is required because of limited seating. Contact the circulation desk at 330-889-3651 to reserve a spot.
