Seeing Eye: Summer festival planned at Niles church campus

NILES MT. CARMEL FESTIVAL: St. Pope John XXIII Parish-Our Lady of Mount Carmel Campus, Robbins Avenue, Niles, will host the 92nd annual summer festival Thursday to Sunday. The festival will include musical entertainment, games, rides, raffle drawings and food. Festival hours are 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 5 to 10 p.m. Thursday, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 5 to 11 p.m. Friday, 4 to 11 p.m. Saturday and 3 to 10 p.m. Sunday. Music includes Random Strangers Thursday, Leather and Lace Friday, No Funk No Justice Saturday and Vegas Reunion Band Sunday.

REPTILE SHOW: The Girard Free Library, 105 E. Prospect St., will host a reptile show with Komara Outdoors at 11 a.m. Wednesday. The program will showcase the local area’s oldest creatures. Registration is needed for the program by calling 330-545-2508.

MUSICAL MAGIC: The McKinley Memorial Library in Niles will host Musical Magic with Kalimba King at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the McKinley Birthplace Home. There will be a live performance on the kalimba (African thumb piano) and how it is used in African culture.

MATTER OF FACT FUNDRAISER: The Fine Arts Council of Trumbull County will host a Matter of Fact fundraiser 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday at Modern Methods Brewing Company, 125 David Grohl Alley, Warren. Cost is $55. Proceeds help the fine arts council. For information, call 330-883-4117.

MUSIC IN THE SQUARE: Music in the Square will be 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Hartford Township Community Park, at state Routes 7 and 305. Admission is free. Musical performances and food will be available. The event is sponsored by the Hartford Community Park Committee.

UNDERSTANDING PTSD: The Cadence Care Network will host “Understanding PTSD 2” at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at McKinley Birthplace Home in Niles. To register call 330-652-1704, Ext. 3.

SCHOOL SUPPLY COLLECTION: The Emmanuel Community Care Center, 2 N. State St., Girard, is taking registration for children who need school supplies for the 2025-26 school year. Children whose parents are registered at the center can call 330-545-4301 through Aug. 8. Donations can be dropped off through Aug. 8.

BIGFOOT FESTIVAL: John’s Country Nursery, 15808 Old State Road, Middlefield, will host “Gone Squatchin” Bigfoot Festival 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday. Admission is free and parking is $2. The family-friendly event will include speakers, vendors, music, square dancing, barrel rides and raffles.

There will be a contest for the biggest foot and best Bigfoot call. Bigfoot experts, including Mike Miller of the Ohio Night Stalkers research group, are scheduled to attend. For information call 440-632-0016 or visit johnscountry.net.
