Event promises to be a real hoot
LEARN ABOUT OWLS: Learn About Owls with a program by Jason Lee, naturalist at Mosquito Lake State Park, along with Bob and Kathy, volunteers at the Upton House, 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday. They will talk about their special guests, a barred owl and a barn owl. Visitors will be able to get a close look and take photos. There will be a Harry Potter-themed scavenger hunt and the first 50 children will receive a free book about owls. The historic Upton House is located at 380 Mahoning Ave. in Warren. Tours of the house will be available.
NEIGHBORHOOD MEET: The Northwest Neighborhood Association monthly meeting will be 6:30 p.m. Monday at Grace Methodist Church, Drexel Avenue NW. Mayor Doug Franklin will be the speaker and give updates on city happenings.Socks for the Warren Family Mission are being collected and the church pantry is always in need of nonperishable food items.
SUMMER STORYTIME: McKinley Memorial Library will present Summer Storytime for caregivers and their children up to age 4, at 11 a.m. Mondays, July 7, 14, 21 and 28.
Each week will feature a different theme. Storytime will be held in the children’s room of the library.
UNDERSTANDING SHAKESPEARE: McKinley Memorial Library will present “Words Words Words: Understanding Shakespeare’s Text” 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the McKinley Birthplace Home. Shakespeare scholar Liz Conrad will help attendees better understand the language of William Shakespeare. The program is for ages 12 and up. Registration is required at 330-652-1704, ext. 3.
DRAWING YOUR WORLD: McKinley Memorial Library will present Drawing Your World with Raul the Third, 4 p.m. Tuesday, streamed live online. Presented in partnership with the Library Speakers Consortium, join author and illustrator Raul The Third as he discusses his book “Vamos! Let’s Go Read!” The program is ntended for children in grades PK-2.
