HISTORICAL SOCIETY PLANS CAR SHOW: The Mecca Township Historical Society will host a Memorial Day car show 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday at Maplewood High School, 2414 Greenville Road NE. Registration information is on the historical society’s Facebook page. The event will include a food truck, Mecca Fire Department fill a boot, and Mosquito Lake Chase 5K and one-mile fun run.
BIKE TRAIL CLEANUP: Warren resident Mike Shrodek is attempting to organize a cleanup for Saturday along the bike trail. The goal is to clean the Warren section of the Western Reserve Greenway bike trail, which runs from Thomas Road SE to Freemont Street NE. Volunteers are being sought to help with the event. READERS’ BOOK CLUB: The McKinley Memorial Library will present the Mystery Readers’ Book Club 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the McKinley Birthplace Home. Participants will discuss “We Have Always Lived in the Castle” by Shirley Jackson.
VETERANS LUNCHEON: Cortland Healthcare Center will present a Memorial Day luncheon for veterans 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. May 29 at the center, 369 N. High St., Cortland. This is a free event for all area veterans and their families. Guest speaker is Corban Baker from the Mahoning County Veterans Service Commission, who will host a pinning ceremony.
The Lakeview High School Madripops Choir will perform patriotic hymns and there will be giveaways.
