Cleanup days set for state park

CLEANUP DAY: The Friends of the Mosquito Lake State Park in Bazetta will host cleanup weekends April 5 to May 10 for local Scouts, Campfire Girls and other organized groups looking for service hours.

Volunteers will get a free night of camping on any of the days when participating, with choice of group site or one site for each 10 participants. For information and registration, call Renee at 330-979-8764.

COLLECTION TO HELP ANIMALS: Francey’s Fuzzy Friends, 604 Robbins Ave., Niles, will host Easter Bunny pictures for pets 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday. Cost is $8 and a donation at the event will be for a collection of pet food, cat litter, blankets, towels, laundry soap and other items to benefit Healthy Hearts and Paws Rescue in Warren.

All dogs and cats getting photos must be current on all vaccines.

HOWLAND MEET AND GREET: The Howland Rotary Club will host meet and greet events noon to 2 p.m. Sunday at the historic Yellow House (Brown Mackey House), 8207 South St., 5 to 7 pm. April 10 at Shepherd of the Valley, 4100 North River Road NE, and 1 to 4 p.m. April 12 at the Avalon Oaks Clubhouse, 9595 Bayhill Drive NE. Guests can meet the club’s president and members, and learn about the only service club in Howland.

CRAFT SALE: A craft sale will be 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Good Shepherd Community Church, 4600 Eagle Creek Road, Leavittsburg. Call Carol at 330-720-1812 for information.

ROTARY FLAG PROGRAM: The Girard Liberty Rotary recently partnered with the Girard Junior High School Builders Club to assemble flags in preparation for the Rotary flag program. Girard and Liberty residents can purchase a flag for their yards.

Rotary members will install the flags from Memorial Day to Veterans Day. Proceeds will be used to support community projects in Girard and Liberty.

GIRARD ROBOCATS FUNDRAISER: The Girard FIRST Robotics Robocats will host a fundraiser 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the Italian Fraternal Home, 33 W. Wilson Ave., Girard. There will be a pancake breakfast and raffles.

SUPERNATURAL OHIO: The Girard Free Library will present “Mothman and Other Winged Cryptids of the Ohio Valley” at 1 p.m. Saturday.

The program for adults 19 and older features guest speaker Brian Seech discussing the strange, supernatural side of the Ohio Valley. He will explain local legends and firsthand accounts of Mothman and other winged cryptids rumored to haunt our skies.

STAKEHOLDERS MEETING: The Trumbull Community Development Implementation Strategy Stakeholder meeting will be 6 p.m. today at the Howland Township administration building. The meeting is to gather input of the county’s economic development needs.
