Seeing eye: VFW decorating Oakwood Cemetery for Memorial Day

PREPARING CEMETERY: The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1090 of Warren will decorate Oakwood Cemetery at 8 a.m. Saturday in preparation for Memorial Day. Any volunteers or groups are welcome. For information, call 330-398-0111.

OPEN HOUSE: The Howland Historical Society will hold an open house of the Yellow House, 8702 South St. SE, Howland, from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday. Local Boy Scouts John and Josh Reble of Howland Scout Troop 28 will be there to discuss their Eagle Scout projects they will be doing on the property. They are selling inscribed bricks to fund the projects. Bricks will be placed in the garden area in memory of society founder Warner Taiclet.

There will also be an open house of the Andrew Jones House, 9441 King Graves Road NE, Howland, from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday.

LEAVITTSBURG MUSEUM: The Leavittsburg Heritage Museum, 4901 W. Market St., will hold an open house 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday. The museum, which showcases local history of Leavittsburg and Warren Township, is open the third Sunday of each month.

COMMUNITY PICNIC: Lordstown will hold a community picnic 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday at the village central park on Salt Springs Road. The event will include a rubber duck race, bounce house, petting zoo, basket raffle and ax throwing.

BENEFIT EVENT: The Verrill Family will host a benefit run to raise funds for Grief and Loss In Motion at 10 a.m. Saturday. The 60-mile ride begins and ends at the Ice House Inn, with stops at Yellow Dogs Tavern, YeagerBaum's Bar and Grille, Steve's Backroad Bar and Grille and the Post Office Pub. The event includes dinner for all riders, a car and bike show, basket raffle, bike wash and features Simply Ed Karaoke. The SoulShine band will perform from 3 to 6 p.m. with the basket raffle, 50/50, car show and bike show winners announced at 5:45 pm. Funds stay 100% local for programming and events in the Mahoning and Shenango valleys.

BIKE BELMONT: Jimmy's Italian Specialties will hold Bike Belmont from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday. Check-in is 12:30 p.m. Participants can loop from the B&O Station to the Giant Eagle on Belmont Avenue or to the Youngstown-Warren Regional Airport and back. Free parking and lunch at the B&O Station.

LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE: Game Changers is hosting the annual GC-360 Leadership Summit and Combine from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday at the DeBartolo Stadium Club at Youngstown State University. The event will help high school athletes with their personal and professional journey. There will be different speakers and panel discussions.

SPECIAL SERVICE: Remnant Lighthouse Ministries will hold a special service for young men in the community 11 a.m. Sunday at the Quality Inn, 3200 S. Hermitage Road, Hermitage, Pa . The speaker will be Charles Phillips, a member of the Cedar Avenue Church of God in Sharon, Pa.
