LATIN MANIA: The USA Dance Youngstown Warren Chapter 2015 Latin Mania is today at Los Gallos in Boardman. It will feature a Cha Cha lesson with Bob McPhail from 7 to 8 p.m. It is the club's last night for Latin Mania this year. General dancing is until 10 p.m.
ANNUAL SPELLING BEE: The 38th Annual Spelling Bee sponsored by the Trumbull Retired Teachers' Association will be 1 p.m. July 11 during the Trumbull County Fair. The event, on the Historical Stage, is for students who have completed grades 1 through 6.
Pre-registered spellers will receive free admission to the fair, not including rides. Pre-registration begins Saturday and runs through July 1.
Call Garry at 216-262-3194 to pre-register. Registration will also be noon to 12:45 the day of the event.
UPTON TOURS: The Upton House will be open for free tours 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday and July 7.
The house, built in 1840, was the home of suffragist Harriet Taylor Upton and became a National Historic Landmark in 1993. The house became the temporary headquarters for the National American Woman Suffrage Association in 1903, when Upton was the treasurer of the organization. She devoted 30 years of her life to the passage of the 19th Amendment, which gives women the right to vote. Guests at her home included U.S. Presidents Rutherford B. Hayes, James A. Garfield, William F. McKinley, Grover Cleveland and Benjamin Harrison. Other notable guests were Susan B. Anthony, Thomas A. Edison and Henry Ford.
