Park naturalist to discuss upcoming events

MOSQUITO LAKE TALK: The Howland Historical Society will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Howland administration building for a program with Jason Lee, Mosquito Lake State Park naturalist and science teacher, who will speak on the park and outdoor events for the 2024 season. The society also will hold a short annual members meeting at 6:30 p.m.

BOOK SALE: Cortland United Methodist Church, 155 N. High St., is hosting a book sale 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday ($3 bag), at the church.

Children's books, puzzles, crafts supplies and games also are for sale.

ANNUAL MEETING: The Upton Association will meet at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday for its annual meeting at Harriet Taylor Upton House, Mahoning Avenue. There will be reports and a review of the state of the association, followed by a pizza party,

COOKBOOK CLUB: The McKinley Memorial Library in Niles will host a Cookbook Club gathering at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the McKinley Birthplace Home. The club is for anyone who enjoys browsing cookbooks and trying new recipes. A new cookbook or theme is discussed each month. This month, join us to discuss "Heroes’ Feast: The Official Dungeons and Dragons Cookbook" by Kyle Newman, Jon Peterson and Michael Witwer.

YARN-WRAPPED FLOWER POTS: The McKinley Memorial Library in Niles will host a program on yarn-wrapped flower pots at 10:30 a.m. Friday. Celebrate spring by decorating a flowerpot with different colors of yarn. Choose from a variety of herb seeds to plant and start your spring garden. All supplies will be provided.
