CEREAL DRIVE: The McKinley Memorial Library will collect cereal in April to benefit Niles Community Services. Donations may be dropped off at the library or Niles Community Services. All brands and flavors of cereal are welcome. Donations need to be unopened and unexpired.
PRESS CLUB SPEAKER: Carmen Gentile, a former war correspondent who created a media outlet that covers post-industrial communities, will address the Youngstown Press Club at its annual meeting and dinner 5:30 p.m. April 18 at Stambaugh Auditorium,1000 Fifth Ave., Youngstown. Gentile, founder of Postindustrial, an independent, Pittsburgh-based multimedia outlet, will speak about "From the battlefield to post-industrial America." Postindustrial focuses on regions that were once heavily industrialized and efforts to reimagine them for a new era.
Reservations for the event may be made through youngstownpressclub.com. The cost is $50.
FRIENDLY SQUARES: The Friendly Squares will host their monthly square dance 7:30 to 10 p.m. Saturday at the Niles SCOPE Center, 14 E State St., Niles. It will be a high and low dance. There is a $7 donation per person. For information, call 330-506-3370.
TEA PARTY: Sight for All United's Mad Hatter Tea party will be 1 to 4 p.m. April 20 at the Medici Museum of Art in Howland. The event will allow guests to learn about Sight for All United. To register, call 330-750-1867.
ART EXHIBITION: Liberty and Girard school students are invited to participate in the Student Art Exhibition at Guiding Light Church, 890 Churchill Road, Girard. The theme is "Bring Your Best." All two-dimensional artwork that is family-friendly will be accepted. Work may be framed.
Artwork can be dropped off at the church 3 to 6 p.m. April 19 and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 20. The exhibit will be 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 27 and May 4, and 1 to 4 p.m. April 28 and May 5. For information, call 330-272-4575.
GERANIUM SALE: The Champion Historical Society is hosting a geranium sale, with proceeds to benefit the society's goals. The society is offering red, white and pink geraniums. The cost is $5 per plant. Orders can be mailed, with a check made payable to the Champion Historical Society, 6549 Shaffer Road, Warren, OH 44481. Orders must be received by May 8.
Pickup is noon to 1 p.m. and 5 to 6 p.m. May 17 at the old schoolhouse, 149 Center St. East, in front of the township cemetery.
