CRIME SPEAKER: The National McKinley Birthplace Memorial Museum in Niles will present author and journalist Vince Guerrieri from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday. He will discuss the history of organized crime and how it took root in the Mahoning Valley.
RUMMAGE SALE: Beacon Of Hope Baptist Church, 3559 N. Park Ave., Warren, is holding a rummage sale 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. today and Saturday.
DONATIONS ACCEPTED: TNR of Warren and Trumbull County is accepting donations for the 2024 rummage sale 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at 397 Folsom Street, Champion.
The profits from this fundraiser go to help fund the organization's spay and neuter program.
All items must be clean, lightly used, in good shape and sellable.
Furniture in good shape is welcome, if unsoiled. Clothing, old appliances, mattresses or box springs will not be accepted.
CELEBRATING 63 YEARS: Trinity Baptist Church, 235 Highland Ave. Warren, is celebrating 63 years 10 a.m. Sunday. The guest Speaker will be Pastor Vincent Peterson of Providence Baptist Church of Akron. The host Pastor is Pastor Darryl L. Rodgers Sr.
AUTHOR BOOK SIGNING: Brandy Gleason, author and creator of Ohio Road Trips has released her latest book, "100 Things to Do in Ohio Before You Die." The book launch is set to take place in Trumbull County with two signing events -- 11 a.m. Saturday at End of the Commons in Mesopotamia and at 3 p.m. at BAM! Books-A-Million Bookstore at the Eastwood Mall.
GERANIUM SALE: The Champion Historical Society is hosting a geranium sale, with proceeds to benefit the society's goals. The society is offering red, white and pink geraniums. The cost is $5 per plant. Orders can be mailed, with a check made payable to the Champion Historical Society, 6549 Shaffer Road, Warren, OH 44481. Orders must be received by May 8.
Pickup is noon to 1 p.m. and 5 to 6 p.m. May 17 at the old schoolhouse, 149 Center St. East, in front of the township cemetery.
MOSS HOUSE: The Moss Ancestral Home, 1499 Burnett St., Mineral Ridge, will be open 1 to 4 p.m. the second Sunday of each month April to November. The Mineral Ridge Historical Society has filled the house with pictures and artifacts.
ART EXHIBITION: Liberty and Girard school students are invited to participate in the Student Art Exhibition at Guiding Light Church, 890 Churchill Road, Girard. The theme is "Bring Your Best." All two-dimensional artwork that is family-friendly will be accepted. Work may be framed.
Artwork can be dropped off at the church 3 to 6 p.m. April 19, and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 20. The exhibit will be shown to the public 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 27 and May 4, and 1 to 4 p.m. April 28 and May 5. For information, call 330-272-4575.
JOHNSON TO SPEAK: Youngstown State University President Bill Johnson will be the keynote speaker as the Mahoning and Shenango Valleys Chapter of the Military Officers Association of America hosts its annual Cadet Night Dinner at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at A La Cart Catering, 429 Lisbon St., Canfield.
The cost is $20 and reservations are needed by email to msvcmoaa@gmail.com. Prospective members may attend one event at no cost or obligation, but reservations are required.
