DEAF HISTORY MONTH: Ohio Deaf History Month: Celebrating Deaf History and Culture, is set 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the McKinley Memorial Library in Niles.
Mackenzie Goranitis, deaf / hard of hearing support specialist at Easterseals of Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana counties, will discuss Ohio Deaf History Month (March 13-April 15) and deaf history and culture. Learn some basic American Sign Language and discover the resources and supportive services that Easterseals provides to the deaf community. Registration is required at 330-652-1704, ext. 3.
UPTON SPEAKER: Roger Peterson Jr. will present a program on the Boston Tea Party for the Upton Association at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Harriet Taylor Upton House, 380 Mahoning Ave., Warren. Refreshments will be offered before the program at 9:30 a.m. Peterson is the owner of the historic Center Brook Manor in North Bloomfield. The program is free to the public. WJWL PROGRAM: The GFWC Ohio Warren Junior Women's League promotional members invite the community to discuss human trafficking at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Warren-Trumbull County Public Library, 444 Mahoning Ave. NW, Warren. Featured speaker is Susan Laird, professor at Youngstown State University and founder of YSU Coalition Against Human Trafficking, The event will raise awareness and educate on preventing human trafficking. NATIVE AMERICAN ARTIFACTS: The Girard Free Library will have speaker Orlando Corsale, a retired history teacher, at 6 p.m. today to discuss hunting artifacts of the Eastern Woodland Native Americans. He will show his collection of Native American arrowheads, pottery and other relics and share his experience searching for the artifacts.
ECLIPSE TIME: The Girard Free Library will host an Eclipse Family Fun time from 6 p.m. today and Thursday. The library will provide a black shirt, fabric paint and stencil to create a keepsake tee for kids. Children also can make a scrapbook page for the eclipse.
BRACEVILLE GROUP: The Braceville Historical Society will host an open house 2 to 5 p.m. April 7 at the township hall. Terry and Gwen Shavers will discuss the Braceville African American Heritage Museum.
NEEDLES AND HOOKS: The McKinley Memorial Library in Niles will host Needles, Hooks and Books 2 to 4 pm. Friday Those attending can bring their own knitting, crocheting or sewing project to the library on the first Friday of each month. Lessons will not be provided.
