LAKE TO PLATE: Mosquito Lake State Park in Bazetta will hold a Lake to Plate event 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at the marina and boat rental area. The Ohio Division of Wildlife will present a three-part program on learning to fish, how to clean fish and eating fish with a few classic recipes and snacks. Local fishermen will attend to help. Anyone under the age of 16 does not need a fishing license to participate in the program.
MAY DAY CELEBRATION: The McKinley Birthplace Home in Niles will celebrate May Day for children 5 to 11 from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday. Those attending will learn about the history of May Day and make a paper flower craft. All supplies will be provided. Registration is required by calling 330-652-1704, ext. 4.
GROCERY GIVEAWAY: East Side Church of Christ, 1750 Niles Road, Warren, will hold a grocery giveaway 11 a.m. Saturday. Each family will receive one bag of groceries while supplies last.
FIRST WEDNESDAY: The "First Wednesday" May 1 program at the Upton House, 370 Mahoning Ave., Warren, will feature East Liverpool attorney Tim Brookes, who will talk about the life of "Pretty Boy" Floyd, who met his demise in East Liverpool. The program is free, and open to the public. Coffee is at 9:30 a.m., and the talk at 10 a.m.

LIBRARY DISPLAY: Now on display at the Bristol Public Library is a collection of Russian samovars belonging to Judi Sheridan of North Bloomfield. Samovars are metal containers traditionally used to heat and boil water. Since heated water is usually used to make tea, a samovar has an attachment on the top of its lid to hold and heat a teapot filled with a tea concentrate. The antiques on display were typically used in and around Russia, European countries, as well as the Middle East.
Sheridan has been collecting samovars for more than 50 years.

ADULT DAY SERVICES: Easterseals of Trumbull, Mahoning and Columbiana counties received a $327,000 grant from the Ohio Department of Aging to expand adult day service. Easterseals Adult Day Care is designed to enhance the lives of adults while promoting their dignity and independence.
COMMITTEE TO MEET: The Mathews Hall of Fame Committee will meet 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Fowler Community Center to discuss plans to honor their first class of inductees Aug. 31 at Tiffany Banquet Center in Brookfield.
