Donations sought for Easter dinner

MISSION NEEDS: The Warren Family Mission is in need of hams for its Easter dinner set for noon to 2 p.m. March 29. Hams are needed by March 22. Also needed are cans of crushed pineapples, green beans, corn, cream of mushroom soup, stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy, Hawaiian rolls and desserts. Plans are to distribute 300 Easter baskets to children. For the Easter baskets, donations of candy, baskets, Easter grass, small boy and girl toys, crayons and coloring books, and cellophane for wrapping are needed. Items are needed by Friday. Donations can be dropped off at the mission, 155 Tod Ave. NW, Warren.

HOWLAND HISTORICAL SOCIETY: The Howland Historical Society will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Howland Township administration building. Belinda Weiss of the William McKinley Memorial Birthplace Museum in Niles will speak on "Lyman Frank Baum: Women's Rights and Oz Oh My."

STEAM NIGHT: The Girard City School District will host the annual Family STEAM Night 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Girard High School, 1244 Shannon Road. This year's theme is "Total Eclipse of the Arts." Presentations and activities suitable for all ages will be available.

WOMEN'S CONNECTION: Warren Women's Connection "Send a Smile" Luncheon will be 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. today at DiLucia's Banquet Center, Warren. Musician will be Tyla Seay, and inspirational speaker Lisa Haley will present "Surviving Life's Surprises."

First-time attendees pay $11 for the program and lunch. Cost is $15 for regular attendees.

COOKBOOK CLUB: The Cookbook Club will meet at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the McKinley Birthplace Home. Cookbook fans are invited to discuss a new cookbook or theme on the second Wednesday of each month. This month, participants will read "Real Irish Food" by David Bowers.

SOCIETY TO MEET: The Trumbull County Genealogical Society will meet at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Grant Room at the Warren Trumbull County Public Library, 444 Mahoning Ave. NW, Warren. A video history of the Pioneer Cemetery in Warren will be shown. Meetings are free to attend.

DRAMA CLUB: The Howland High School Drama Club will present "The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical," based on the novel by Rick Riordan. The play is directed by Janel Darren and Lisa Howard. The production will take place at 7 p.m. March 21, 22 and 23 and 2 p.m. March 24 at Howland Middle School. Tickets will be available at the door before each performance.

PROM DRESSES: Champion High School and the Warren Junior Women's League will host the eighth annual Bling Prom Boutiques from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the CHS Flash Zone. Guests are invited to browse through dresses, shoes, jewelry and handbags. All items are free to take home and be used for prom and other events. The event is free to high school girls in the tricounty area. Donations for the event are being accepted and can be dropped off at Champion High School or calling Becky at 330-720-8995. PET CLINIC: The Trumbull County Farm Bureau will host a pet clinic 9 a.m. to noon March 16 at Family Farm and Home, 3850 Elm Road, Warren. The event is open to the public. Dogs must be on a leash and cats must be in carriers. Vaccines will be administered by Dr. Beth Ady of Gustavus Veterinary Services. Microchipping will be provided by Trumbull County Dog Pound. Farm bureau members are $10 each vaccine and $5 on microchipping.

TRAINING OFFERED: To raise awareness about the difficulties people face in their lives, Trumbull County DEI Collaborative will host a training event 9 a.m. to noon Friday at the Metroplex Expo Center in Liberty. For information, call Carol Holmes Chambers 330-675-2765.
