ACTION HOSTS EVENT: The Alliance for Congregational Transformation Influencing Our Neighborhoods (ACTION) in partnership with Second Baptist Church in Warren and IVote Black will host a community voter engagement event 6 p.m. Tuesday at Second Baptist Church, 1510 Main Ave. SW. The event is free. Candidates will present their platforms.
JA START MY BUSINESS: Junior Achievement is offering a workshop, "JA Start My Business," 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday at Boscov's in the Eastwood Mall, Niles.
The free workshop, based on the JA Start My Business workbook, is targeted at students ages 8 to 14. Starting a business can be a fun way to encourage creativity and confidence, while developing practical skills. This program guides students through the process of starting a business.
HA HA GALA: Cadence Care Network's inaugural "Ha Ha Gala" brings three comedians from across the country to the Mahoning Valley at 7 p.m. Saturday at Penguin City Beer in Youngstown, all to benefit the agency's work throughout Northern Ohio.
Headliner Jason Lawhead from San Diego, a Lorain native, will lead the lineup. He appeared on Season 9 of NBC's "Last Comic Standing."
Host and performer Bill Squire is heard daily as co-host of The Alan Cox Show on the Buzzard, 100.7 WMMS, in Cleveland. He also hosts his podcast, The Bill Squire Show, on the iHeartRadio network.
John Armstrong is one of the fastest rising comedians in Cleveland.

RECREATION IN GIRARD: The Girard Recreation Department will offer walking exercises 9 to 11 a.m. Monday to Thursday in the Girard city gym, 100 W. Main St., starting Tuesday. Participants should be residents of Girard.
WOMEN TO MEET: The American Association of University Women is offering a $1,000 scholarship to assist a Trumbull County full-time woman senior student pursuing a degree in science, technology, engineering, mathematics or the arts. Applicants must have a 3.2 minimum grade point average and be enrolled in a degree program at an accredited college or university in Ohio. DRESSES AND SHOES: GFWC Ohio Warren Junior Women's League and Champion schools are accepting donations of items for the eighth annual Bling Prom Boutique. The prom dress event is free to high school students and young adults in the tricounty area. Items needed are prom-like dresses, shoes, jewelry, prizes and unused makeup. HUBBARD LIBRARY GARDEN: The Hubbard Public Library's sensory garden located outside the children's room is in need of refurbishing. The water feature, landscape and other areas of the garden requires repairs and updates for safety and aesthetics. The garden allows patrons to experience their surroundings through sensory awareness and interaction. The Friends of the Hubbard Library and other community organizations are planning fundraising events Private donations are also welcome.
