Music Club plans Sunday meeting

MUSIC CLUB TO MEET: Warren Music Club will meet at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Warren home of Karl and Jeannine Morris. National Federation of Music Clubs Founders Day and Celebrate Strings will be observed. The history of NFMC, Ohio Federation of Music Clubs and Warren Music Club will be given by members. Program chair Anna Marie Beagle will introduce Amanda Beagle, a vocal music graduate of Dana School of Music at Youngstown State University who has a vocal music studio in Howland. The club choral ensemble will sing and Jeannine Morris will present an organ solo.

The Song of the Month “Wassail, Wassail All Over the Town,” accompanied by Karen Hunt, will be sung by everyone. Ben Olsen will read the poem, “January” and Karl Morris will present a study from Songs Sung Red, White and Blue.

Hostesses Melanie Burger and Elaine Maki will serve dessert. The program is open to the public.

PETITION DRIVE: Members of a group working to keep Coalburg Dam and Lake from being removed will hold a petition drive 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Tylee Park in Hubbard.

GAME CHANGERS MENTORSHIP: Join Game Changers from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday at the Niles Wellness Center, 213 Sharkey Drive, as they host a day of mentorship and fun for the sixth- through eighth-grade community for National Mentoring Month.

Topics to be discussed include hygiene, self-advocacy / anti-bullying, teamwork and service and mental fitness. The event will end with team-building activities and a field day.

The cost is $20 per student, which includes a camp T-shirt, food, drink and activities.

Game Changers is a Mahoning Valley-based organization with the goal to assist in the retention and graduation of high school athletes.

LIBRARY CLOSED: McKinley Memorial Library will be closed Monday to observe of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. It will reopen Tuesday with normal hours.
