HISTORICAL SOCIETY EVENT: The Braceville Historical Society will host a holiday open house 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Braceville Township Hall. There will an old-fashioned Christmas party. Guest speaker is Art Smallsreed, who will discuss generations of family in Braceville.
LORDSTOWN MAYOR: The pubic is invited to a party to honor the retirement of Lordstown Mayor Arno Hill from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday at the village administration building, 1455 Salt Springs Road. There will be doughnuts. Hill has served 24 years as mayor and six years on village council.
MODEL RAILROAD OPEN HOUSE: The Youngstown Model Railroad Association 2023 Open House will run noon to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, and Dec. 9 and 10, at the club, located at the corner of Raccoon Road and Four Mile Run Road in Austintown.
The association is one of the few clubs in the country that has two complete displays, "O" scale and the smaller "HO." Both extensive layouts feature more than 100 scale miles of track. The steel mill complex is being completed and the locomotive roundhouse area is being redone, along with track work and several upgrades.
Entrance is $5 per person. Children 11 and younger with an adult may enter free.

JA EVENTS: Junior Achievement of Eastern Ohio is hosting a bingo, dinner and chance auctions at 6:30 p.m. Friday at the Metroplex Event Center in Liberty. Doors open at 5 p.m.
Price of admission includes 15 rounds of bingo, dinner and dessert. Additionally, door prizes, a 50/50 raffle, chance auctions, "Red Hot" Grand Prize purse and a full cash bar will be available.

HOLIDAY GIFT WRAPPING: Holiday gift wrapping will be offered at the Warren-Trumbull County Public Library, 444 Mahoning Ave. NW, Warren, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays, Dec. 2, 9 and 23, and 2 to 7 p.m. Mondays, Dec. 4, 11 and 18. The library will provide wrapping paper, tape, ribbon, boxes and bags while supplies last. Donations of new or like-new wrapping supplies are welcome and may be brought to the library during the program times.
CLUB MEETING: The next meeting of the Trumbull Retired Teachers Association will be Dec. 12 at Ciminero's for a noon luncheon. The program will feature the madrigal singers from Lakeview High School. Reservations are due by Friday by sending $16 to Linda Cowin, P.O. Box 152, Leavittsburg, OH 44430.
LIBERTY HOSTS SENIOR EVENT: The Liberty Board of Education will host a senior citizens dinner 4 to 6 p.m. Dec. 7 at the Liberty High School cafeteria, 1 Leopard Way. The event is open to any Liberty resident 55 and older. The cost is $3 per person with RSVP by Thursday at 330-759-0807.
SNOWFLAKE BALL: The USA Dance (Youngstown Warren Chapter #2015) Snowflake Ball will be 5 to 10 p.m. Saturday at the historic Avon Oaks Ballroom, 1401 N. State St., Girard. The Snowflake Ball has been rated "the No. 4 Social Dance Event in the Country" by American Dancer Magazine.
The evening will feature dinner, dancing and a show, with guest deejay Chris Drum Smooth and professional dancers Evgeniya Zyryanova and Sergei Ivanov from Fred Astaire Studio in Boardman.
