BACK TO SCHOOL SUPPLIES: The Warren Family Mission will host a back-to-school supply distribution with 10 a.m. registration and distribution at 1 p,m. Friday at the mission. The mission will present 500 backpacks to children in grades K-12 at schools in the Mahoning Valley. Parent identification is needed along with birth certificates and medical cards of each child. Donations of school supply items can be dropped off at the mission, 155 Tod Ave. NW, Warren.
BACK TO SCHOOL: McKinley Memorial Library will present a back-to-school giveaway 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday on the grounds of the National McKinley Birthplace Memorial. There will be games, crafts, refreshments and a backpack and school supply giveaway (while supplies last). The event is sponsored by Shepherds House Ministries.
PONY RIDES: The Girard Free Library will offer pony rides and a petting zoo at 11 a.m. Friday. Families will celebrate the end of the summer reading program. The Girard Fire Department will attend with safety vehicles. Rain date is Aug. 18.
SWINGTIME BAND: The Girard Swingtime Band will play 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at the Canfield Center green. Those attending can bring lawn chairs.
SOCIETY TO MEET: The Trumbull County Genealogical Society will meet at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the Grant Room of the Warren-Trumbull County Public Library, 444 Mahoning Ave. NW, Warren, which is a change of venue.
There is no formal program, but instead the members ask that each attendee share an "ah-ha moment" from their genealogy research. Did you break down a brick wall? Find a skeleton? Inquiring minds want to know about it.
The board will meet afterward for a business meeting. All meetings are free to all.

HEALTH MARKET: A senior health market will be 2 to 4 p.m. Thursday at the Country Club Rehabilitation Campus of Newton Falls, 2200 Milton Blvd., with health and wellness providers, basket raffles and giveaways. NEEDLES AND HOOKS: The McKinley Memorial Library in Niles will host a Needles, Hooks and Books program 2 to 4 p.m. Friday at the replica house. Those attending can bring their own knitting, crocheting and sewing items and spend time with others. Lessons will not be provided.
SOCIETY MEETING: The Niles Historical Society will meet at 10 a.m. Saturday in the Westenfield Room on the Ward Thomas House property, 503 Brown St., Niles. This is a business meeting open to all members of the society. Interested members of the public also are invited.
