REVIVAL: One Nation Kingdom Ministries will have guest speaker, Walnetha Baker, at a revival 10 a.m. Sunday during the worship service at the Focus building, 2041 Niles Road SE, Warren.
BUILDING DEDICATION: The Church of the Pentecost USA Inc. Cleveland District will host a building dedication at 10 a.m. Sunday at 2250 Tod Ave. NW, Warren. The event will include several guest speakers.
OUTDOOR WORSHIP: First Church of God, 1951 Parkman Road, Warren, is planning a July 4th weekend service at 10:30 a.m. Sunday with an outside service in the parking lot. There will be worship service, singalong and refreshments.
CONCERT: General Assembly Church of God, 2021 E. River Road, Newton Falls, will have Glory Way in concert at 11 a.m. July 9.
CONCERT: Hubbard Church of the Nazarene, 1815 Cherry Lane, will host a traditional Jewish music concert at 6 p.m. July 9. Admission is free. Holy Land souvenirs will be available for sale.
Sisters Lori Kate Loowenhar and Leah Duke will play traditional Jewish music amd Messianic songs on clarinet, flute and piano.
PILGRIMAGE SET: SS. Mary and Joseph Parish in Warren is sponsoring a Pilgrimage to the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Windsor on July 23.
The cost is $35 and will include: box lunch, viewing of the Guadalupe apparition, Mass, rosary, visit to the gift shop and free time. Reservations are needed and can be made by calling the church office at 330-393-8721. Departure is from St. Mary's parking lot at noon with return at 5 p.m.
LOVE CHARITY ALMS: Love Charity Alms will host their annual Martha J. Hill Scholarship dinner at Enzo's Banquet Center, 2918 Elm Road, Warren, on Aug. 12. Speaker is the Rev. Avan Odom, pastor of Friendship Baptist Church, Warren. Tickets are $30 and $15 for 12 and under. For tickets, call 330-360-9474.
DIOCESE AWARDS: The Catholic Diocese of Youngstown has been awarded three Catholic Media Awards from the Catholic Media Association for diocesan media products, as well as one award for Bishop David Bonnar for his column in The Priest magazine.
• The Diocese of Youngstown received an award from the 2023 Communicator Awards, given by the Academy of Interactive and Visual Arts. Leading the awards for the Diocese of Youngstown were the Rev. James Korda, recognized with the 2023 Gabriel Award for Lifetime Achievement and Pete Sheehan, who received first place in the category of regular column for pro-life issues.
Sheehan, editor of the diocese's former publication, the Catholic Exponent, and current writer for The Catholic Echo, was recognized for his column, "Considering past and future on the 49th anniversary of Roe v. Wade." This is the second straight first-place award for Sheehan, who also won a 2022 Catholic Media Award for best column in the pandemic category, for his collection of columns on the COVID-19 pandemic.
• The Diocese of Youngstown's communications department also received an honorable mention from the Catholic Media Association in the press release category for Justin Huyck and Katie Wagner's press release, "Diocese of Youngstown announces The Catholic Echo."
• For his collection of columns in The Priest magazine, which is published by Our Sunday Visitor, Bonnar won a third-place award in the magazine category for best regular column on religious life. Bonnar serves as editor of The Priest magazine. This is the second year in a row that Bonnar's column for The Priest has been recognized, having received a second-place award in the same category in 2022.
• The Diocese of Youngstown received an Award of Distinction from the 2023 Communicator Awards for its radio program Wineskins, hosted by Korda and edited by multimedia specialist Robert Gavalier. The Communicator Awards are given by the Academy of Interactive and Visual Arts.
