TRAIN DISPLAY: The Moss Ancestral Home, 1499 Burnett St., Mineral Ridge, will present a train display 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. The display will be trains of the HO scale. The display will resemble the Mineral Ridge Railroad Coal Train and Niles Lisbon Railroad, which ran from Mineral Ridge to Niles. Tours of the Moss Ancestral Home will be given. New this year is a showcase of Mineral Ridge and the surrounding areas with pictures and memorabilia housed in the building across the street from the home.
A dedication of a National Register of Historic Places plaque will take place at 4 p.m. Saturday.
The Moss Ancestral Home is an 1830s Pennsylvania Bank-style home. Jacob Moss lived there from 1859 to 1899 and one of his descendants has restored it into a museum.
SADDLE CLUB HOSTS SHOW: The Brookfield Saddle Club will host an open points and performance horse show at 10 a.m. Saturday at the club grounds, 696 Bedford Road SE. This will be the 76th year of horse shows. The show is open to the public. Classes will be offered for beginners, juniors, adults, men and women. New members are welcome. Other shows are planned for Aug. 19 and 26 and Oct. 7.
CONCERT ON LAWN: The McKinley Memorial Library in Niles will present a lawn concert with the Jim Frank Combo from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday. Those attending can bring a lawn chair or blanket. Friends of the McKinley Memorial Library sponsor the free event.
SQUARE DANCING: The Friendly Squares will host its monthly square dance Saturday. A hot dog dinner will be at 6:30 p.m. and the dance from 7:30 to 10 p.m. at the Niles SCOPE Center, 14 E. State St. Howard Williamson will be the caller, and Frankie Hammond will be calling line dances. Dress is casual. Cost is $6 per person at the door.
MAGIC PROGRAM: The McKinley Memorial Library in Niles presents Wondrous Wednesdays at 2 p.m. each Wednesday on the library lawn. On Wednesday is magician Jim Kleefield, who will present "The Magic of Friendship." On July 12 will be a performance of "The Wizard of Oz" in the auditorium.
SCHOOL SUPPLIES: The Emmanuel Community Care Center in Girard will provide school supplies to children in grades kindergarten to 12th whose families are registered at the center. Registered families can sign up by calling the center at 330-545-4301 through Aug. 11.
HUBBARD MARKET: The annual Hubbard Ohio Farmers Market is marking its ninth season at Tylee Park, 13 W. Liberty St. Vendors and farmers will take part 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. each Sunday through Sept. 24.
UPTON DEMONSTRATION: The Harriet Taylor Upton House, 380 Mahoning Ave., Warren, will be open 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday with demonstrations by local artisans including spinning wheels, weaving, tatting, crocheting and cross stitch. The historic house was built in 1840.
