CHAUTAUQUA RETURNS: Ohio Living Lake Vista in Cortland will host the second annual Cortland Chautauqua on the Lake, from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday. There will be period performers, lecturers, music, a quilt show and art displays.
The event is free to the public made possible by the Ohio Living Foundation's Lifelong Learning grant. Attendees can bring a lawn chair. The Western Reserve Quilt Guild will present a quilt show featuring 100 unique quilts on both days.
SOCIETY BUSINESS: The Niles Historical Society announces there will be no open house on Sunday due to Fourth of July weekend holiday activities in the area.
RAFFLE EVENT: A raffle event to benefit the advocacy group Voices of the Trumbull County Dog Pound, will be 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Ross' Eatery and Pub, 8421 Tod Ave., Lordstown. Proceeds will benefit homeless animals. There also be a gift basket raffle. The Voices group supports the dogs at the county kennel by providing funds for training, medical care, spays and neuters.
OH WOW! VISIT: The Girard Free Library will host the OH WOW! Science and Technology Center for children ages 5 to 12 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Wednesday. There will be edutainers from the center at the library. Fluorescent fun will be at 11 a.m. for ages 5 to 8. At 12:30 p.m. will be an activity on extracting DNA from the skin and saliva cells to make a personalized necklace. Registration is required.
A Family and Friends bingo will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday. All ages are welcome. Prizes will be awarded. Registration is required.
SIP AND PAINT: The Paul and Yetta Gluck School of Visual Arts at the Jewish Community Center of Youngstown is offering a sip and paint for ages 18 and older from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Logan Campus, 3245 Logan Way.
