Warren, Cortland fairs to start

GREEK FESTIVAL: The St. Demetrios Greek Festival will be Wednesday to July 24 at the grounds of the St. Demetrios Center, 3223 Atlantic St. NE, Warren. The event will include Greek food, rides, performances, games and entertainment. Hours are 4 to 10 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, 4 to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 1 to 9 p.m. July 24. CORTLAND STREET FAIR: The annual Cortland Community Street Fair will be held Thursday to Saturday in the city's downtown off Main Street. The Cortland Lions Club hosts the event, which includes food, entertainment, music, rides and games. Opening ceremony and Miss Cortland pageant are Thursday and parade is Saturday.

SENIOR WATCH PROGRAM: The Liberty Township Senior Watch Program is inviting Liberty seniors ages 60 and older to an open house 11 a.m. Wednesday at the township administration building. Pizza and refreshments will be served. Agencies will attend to provide information for older residents. Liberty safety forces will discuss wellness checks and daily phone calls. SUMMER SIZZLE: Hubbard Community Pool will hold the annual Summer Sizzle fundraiser noon to 5 p.m. Saturday at the pool, 200 Hall Ave. The event will include free swimming, a basket raffle and food. Special guest is the Hubbard Eagle mascot.

HISTORICAL SOCIETY: Barnhisel House, 1011 N. State St., Girard, will hold an open house 1 to 4 p.m. July 24. There will be a display of vintage postcards.

BLOCK WATCH TO MEET: The Girard 2nd and 3rd Ward Block Watch will meet 6 p.m. Thursday at the Girard Free Library with guest speaker, Girard police Chief John Norman.

LAWN CONCERT: McKinley Memorial Library will host a Music on the Lawn 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday on the front lawn of the library. Concerts are free. Bring a blanket or lawn chair.

LIBRARY PROGRAMS: The Girard Free Library will offer programs for its summer "Oceans of Possibilities" series for children. Upcoming programs include All Hands on Deck art and activities 1 p.m. Friday and the Akron Zoo Mobile 11 a.m. July 27.
