Wean Foundation sets orientation

Seeing eye

PROGRAM RETURNS: The Wean Foundation will host a Neighborhood SUCCESS Grantee Orientation 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. today at the Raymond John Wean Foundation Western Reserve Room, 147 W. Market St., Warren. This is the first in-person event for the program since COVID-19. Participants will get to know some of the grassroots organizations and the projects they are doing to build up their neighborhoods. The Neighborhood SUCCESS Grants Program awards funding from $500 to $5,000 in support of groups in Warren and Youngstown with the most promising efforts addressing resident-identified priorities.

COMMUNITY HEALTH FAIR: The Community Family Outreach Complex, 2165 Highland Ave. in Warren, will sponsor a free Community Health Fair 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.

The health fair will target diabetes, cancer and heart disease (cardiovascular diseases) because of the concern for the economically disadvantaged minority population in Trumbull County. Resources for children will include lead testing, vision and hearing screening, medication safety and more.

Funded by the Ohio Commission on Minority Health with participants including Mercy Health and Trumbull County Combined Health District, there will be several interactive stations with local community health representatives providing essential information concerning a number of health issues. In addition, there will be free drawings for grocery store gift cards.

For information, call Katherine Jones at 330-307-6843.
