DOG PARK EVENT: The Friends of the Mosquito Lake Dog Park are hosting the annual Puppy Bowl on Saturday at the park offices near the entrance of the park off Route 305. Smaller breed puppies will be from 1 to 2:15 p.m. and larger breed puppies from 2:30 to 4 p.m. The group hosts various events during the year at the dog park.
NURTURING PATHWAYS TO FREEDOM: The fifth annual "Nurturing Pathways to Freedom" lecture series of the Sutliff Museum will kick off 2 p.m. Sunday with a presentation titled "Enslaved, Freedom and Beyond" by Allison Smith of Warren. Smith will share stories about the lives of those that were enslaved and their lives after enslavement once they found freedom along the Underground Railroad. Smith is a fiber artist storyteller and retired teacher. She has a display in the lobby of the main branch of the Warren-Trumbull County Public Library for the month of February, which is Black History Month.
This is the first of three free programs in the series that will be presented in the community auditorium of Boscov's Department Store in the Eastwood Mall. Doors open at 1:30 p.m. and lecture begins at 2 p.m. For information, call 330-395-6575 or visit www.sutliffmuseum.org.
RUBBER DUCK EVENT: The Jewish Community Center of Youngstown will host a Rubber Duck Pool Party 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Feb. 18 at the center, 505 Gypsy Lane. The JCC indoor heated pool will be filled with hundreds of rubber ducks of all shapes and sizes. Participants will take their favorite home, and pizza is included. PAJAMA PARTY CANCELED: The Jewish Community Center of Youngstown has canceled the "Neverland Pajama Party" originally scheduled for Sunday at the JCC, 505 Gypsy Lane.
METROPARKS EVENT CANCELED: The Trumbull County MetroParks board has canceled the sledding / scavenger event that was planned for Feb. 19. Park officials said they will focus on an event for early spring.
