Lakeview runner named FCA student-athlete of the month
The Fellowship of Christian Athletes has named Keira Reid, a student at Trumbull Career and Technical Center, as the Student-Athlete of the Month for March.
Reid is a senior at TCTC studying exercise science and carries a grade point average of 3.96. She competes athletically for Lakeview, where she has lettered twice in cross country and is working on her second letter in track.
Reid helps lead the FCA Huddle at TCTC and has been involved with her Youth Leadership Team at North Mar Church. She is planning on continuing her education at Owens Community College near Toledo.
Katie Wright, English instructor at TCTC and FCA Huddle host, says Reid “has grown tremendously as a leader these last two years.”
Wright said Reid influences many people in a positive way, including students and teachers.
She also received a certificate and FCA Student Bible signed by Youngstown State University President Jim Tressel.
Earlier this year, the FCA Steel Valley announced Don James will become the new Steel Valley director. He has been involved in FCA for almost two years and has been the Trumbull County representative.
James brings over 30 years of management experience and, most importantly, felt called by God to step into this role. Martin Dunham previously served in this role and decided to be a “FCA representative” working Mahoning County, including YSU.
Bob Kimpel will continue to handle Columbiana, Jefferson, and part of Mahoning County. James will continue to cover Trumbull County until a representative is hired.
“FCA Steel Valley has a long history with FCA and a bright future. Don James serving as the FCA Steel Valley director is both exciting and catalytic to that bright future being realized. Don brings a tremendous heart for the Lord and the FCA mission, and seasoned professional leadership experience that serves FCA well,” Robert Kilo, FCA Northeast Ohio director, said.
