Regional anti-litter campaign begins

GREAT AMERICAN CLEANUP: The Geauga-Trumbull Solid Waste Management District kicked off its litter cleanup campaign this month. The summerlong program called the Great American Cleanup is part of a national campaign through Keep America Beautiful. Local volunteers receive trash bags, litter grabbers, safety vests and gloves. All cleanup volunteers will receive Earth Day T-shirts, while supplies last.

Service groups, neighborhood clubs, schools, scouts and communities seek out littered areas and then register their cleanup date to receive supplies. Registration forms are available by calling the district at 330-675-2673 or 1-800-707-2673. Sign up to volunteer on line at www.gottagogreen.org.

DONATING MEAT: The Trumbull County Federation of Sportsmen’s Clubs organized an opportunity for hunters and farmers to donate deer meat to area food banks. All donated deer meat was processed by Butcher Holler meat processing facility totaling 450 pounds. The meat was then delivered to Warren Family Mission, Salvation Army and St. Vincent de Paul services.

Trumbull County Federation members Don Koches and Dan Padula provided the transportation and delivery of the frozen deer meat to the area food banks.
