YWCA reflects on MLK’s legacy

The seeing eye

MLK COMMEMORATION: The YWCA Mahoning Valley and the MLK Planning Committee are preparing Martin Luther King Jr. Day events this weekend.

The annual worship service will be held virtually 3:30 p.m. Sunday. The speaker will be the Rev. Michael Harrison, pastor of Union Baptist Church and president of the Ohio Baptist State Convention.

There is a workshop set for 8:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Monday on Zoom, covering the topics criminal justice, health care and youth empowerment.

The theme this year is “Fifty-three Years Later: Remembering What is Civil: Doing What is Right.”

Both the service and workshop will be livestreamed and recorded. The workshop requires people to pre-register and select a breakout room of personal interest.
