Campaign for pet adoption begins

2 min read

JOINT VENTURE: The Animal Welfare League of Trumbull County and Kent State University at Trumbull are teaming up this month to find homes for sheltered dogs and cats.

The Adopt-A-Dog (or Cat) social media campaign will feature a different dog or cat each day. Animal photos will be posted on Facebook and Instagram.

Kent State's veterinary technology program has been working with the animals for more than five years. Last year, Kent State at Trumbull opened a veterinary technology laboratory, which resembles a mini-veterinary clinic inside the shelter. It offers radiology, laboratory, surgery and a pharmacy.

"The animals have access to care through our staff veterinarian Dr. (Kelly) Johnson and our students, and of course, our students are gaining valuable hands-on experience," Melissa Best, veterinary technology program director, said.
