SUPERVISOR ELECTION: The Ohio Soil and Water Conservation District will hold an election of supervisors. Individuals who own or occupy land within The Trumbull Soil and Water Conservation District and are 18 years of age or older may vote. Absentee voting can be done by requesting the ballot application and election ballot from Trumbull SWCD by mail at Trumbull SWCD, 520 W. Main Street, Suite 3, Cortland, 44410; or by calling 330-637-2056, Opt. 3; by email to eric@trumbullohswcd.org. Absentee ballots must be received by Trumbull SWCD no later than 2:30 p.m. Oct. 21.
Trumbull SWCD will be holding a drive-thru election event 3 to 6:30 p.m. Oct. 21 at the Trumbull County Agriculture and Family Education Center, 520 W. Main Street, Cortland.
Two supervisors will be elected to a three-year term commencing Jan. 1, 2021, and ending Dec. 31, 2023. The supervisor candidates are: David L. Baker, Eric J. Campbell, Albert Haberstroh, Jason R. Lee, Michael Paquet and Gary E. Smallsreed.
AVENGE HUNGER MONTH: Breaking Bread will host the third annual Avenge Hunger Month through Oct. 4 to help food pantries in local communities. In 2019, the event collected 41,616 pounds of food and $12,264 in monetary donations. Nearly 200 community feeding programs received resources through the efforts. The Avenge Hunger virtual 5K will be Tuesday to Sept. 30 with run, walk, bike or treadmill at your own pace. Sign up at ArmstrongOneWire.com/Breaking Bread. Registration deadline is Wednesday. All participants will receive a finishing medal.
VOTER REGISTRATION: The Jewish Community Center of Youngstown and the Jewish Community Relations Council of the Youngstown Area Jewish Federation will host a voter registration drive with the League of Women Voters 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the JCC, 505 Gypsy Lane. Participants will be able to register to vote and check their voter registration status. Absentee ballot request forms, polling site location information and League of Women Voters nonpartisan candidate information will be available.
Participants will remain in their vehicles. All activities will be non-contact and socially distant.
