BICYCLE EVENT: Kiwanis Club of Liberty, in collaboration with Liberty Township, Liberty Police Department and CycWard Bike Club, is hosting a Kids Bicycle Safety Rodeo 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at the William S. Guy Middle School, 4115 Shady Road, Liberty.
There will be bike inspections, bike maintenance, a bike riding course and food, all free. Also, free helmets will be provided, and bikes will be available for riders who do not bring their own bikes and helmets to test the course.
Social-distancing guidelines will be in place and a mask is required. For information, call 330-774-9799.
LUNCH DISTRIBUTION: Central Christian Church, East Market Street, Warren, will offer a free hot dog lunch in the church parking lot starting 11:30 a.m. Saturday, with people asked to remain in cars and drive through.
HISTORICAL SOCIETY EVENT: The Howland Historical Society will hold its monthly open house 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the historic yellow house, Niles Cortland Road, Howland. At 3 p.m., naturalist Susette Liddle will take people up a back hill on the property to see the rock formations and pits that were dug to build the homes. Those attending are asked to wear appropriate shoes and clothing. The event is weather permitting.
The house has a display on the history of Hillside Hospital.
Society members will be present to answer questions about the house and the diverging diamond interchange project.
FILL THE CRUISER: Newton Falls police will hold a "Fill the Cruiser" back-to-school collection to help children get ready for school.
People can drop off donations 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the school complex, 907 Milton Blvd. Items needed include notebooks, folders, backpacks, calculators, pencils and pens, and colored pencils and markers. Monetary donations also are being accepted.
YARD SALE: The Harriet Taylor Upton House on Mahoning Avenue, Warren, is open again, with the annual garage and yard sale set for 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 22. It will be an all outside sale on the lawn, with masks and social distancing required.
