JUNE SCHEDULE: The Second Harvest Food Bank summer food distribution schedule for June for Trumbull County is:
• Mobile Pantry, 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, Mecca Community Church;
• Mobile Pantry, 9 a.m. June 13, old Liberty High School;
• Traveling Food Pantry, 11 a.m. June 15, McDonald Local Schools;
• Traveling Food Panty, 11 a.m. June 18, Harding High School, Warren.
Dates and locations are subject to change. Additional distributions may be added. Contact Second Harvest Food Bank at 330-792-5522 to confirm locations and times.
HISTORICAL SOCIETY TO MEET: The Johnston Township Historical Society will meet 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Johnston Township Park pavilion. Those attending are asked to wear masks to comply with social distancing.
In case of rain, the meeting will be held at township hall.
DONATIONS NEEDED: SCOPE Senior Services, Someplace Safe and Veterans Haven are local agencies of Family and Community Services Inc. that are accepting donations during the COVID-19 pandemic.
SCOPE operates a traveling pantry food truck, which delivers free groceries to the elderly and disabled in Trumbull County. SCOPE also provides free paper products and cleaning supplies along with food any homebound citizen in need during this time.
The Someplace Safe domestic violence shelter is in need of food and supplies to assist the families housed at its center in Warren. Veterans Haven assists homeless veterans with housing as well as support.
Current needs include hand sanitizer, paper products, tissues, disinfecting wipes, rubber gloves, hand soap, cleaning products, canned soup, cough medicine, head thermometers, masks and bottled water.
Donations will be accepted by calling SCOPE at 330-399-8846, Someplace Safe at 330-393-3003 or Veterans Haven at 330-299-7469 to coordinate drop-off or pick-up.
