RED RIBBON WEEK: In observance of Red Ribbon Week, students at Warren's Willard PK-8 School will don red shirts 9:30 a.m. Thursday and form a human chain in front of the building to support a drug-free lifestyle. The initiative will also spotlight the school's anti-bullying campaign.
All students wearing red shirts will participate. The human chain will take form at 9:30 a.m.
PRO BONO MONTH: Community Legal Aid invites pro bono attorneys to join them at their Pancakes for Pro Bono event 8 to 10 a.m. today at the Trumbull County Bar Association.
The event recognizes attorneys who volunteer their time to serve the legal needs of low-income individuals in the area. Pancakes will be served by local judges to show their appreciation. All attorneys who are not current volunteers also are invited to have breakfast and network.
Attendees will also have the opportunity to speak with Legal Aid staff about the benefits of the volunteer program, such as free continuing legal education (CLE) courses, malpractice insurance coverage and paralegal support.
They will also host three free CLE courses on bankruptcy, record sealing and professionalism in poverty law for attorneys who want to learn more on these topics during the month as well. More information on these events can be found at www.communitylegalaid.org/events.
PAPER BAGS: Girard city is requiring the use of paper lawn bags for the annual leaf collection. Leaves raked out to the street will not be picked up.
The city has purchased a bulk quantity of bags that will be available to city residents while supplies last, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. to noon Saturdays through Nov. 16 at the Girard Street Department's garage, 943, S. State St. The first five bags will be provided at no cost upon proof of residency, with photo ID and utility bill. Additional bags are five for $1.

HONOR SOCIETY TRICK OR TREAT: Girard High School National Honor Society will hold its 16th annual trick-or-treat 6 to 6:45 p.m. Tuesday at Girard High School. The event will take place outside the school, weather permitting. Candy stations will be located around the school.
Donations of food items will also be accepted and may be dropped off at the school during school hours.
TRUNK AND TREAT: Pricetown Church, 4640 Pritchard Ohltown Road, Newton Falls, will hold its annual Trunk and Treat 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday in the church parking lot.
STORM SPOTTER COURSE: A course on how to become a storm spotter is being offered at 6 p.m. Monday at Kent State University at Trumbull's Technology Building Room 117, 4314 Mahoning Ave., Champion.
The Skywarn training class is free. Attendees will learn some basics of thunderstorm development, fundamentals of storm structures, identifying potential severe weather features, and information to report and how to report it.
