RIBBON CUTTING SET AT LIBRARY: A ribbon cutting will be 3 p.m. Saturday at the Liberty Library Branch, 415 Churchill Hubbard Road, for the new outdoor children's area.
Children who visit the library can play and learn in a new enclosed outdoor area dedicated to the memory of a longtime library patron. Construction of "Jan's Corner" began in mid-August at the library.
Jan's Corner is being funded by the Janet Miller Casey Memorial Endowment and by private donations. Casey regularly attended library storytimes with her grandchildren for many years and also enjoyed reading and gardening. The enclosed 1,233-square-foot space on the east side of the library will have a walkway leading to bronze fencing with brick columns and with flowering landscaping, a picnic table and two benches.
Construction and landscaping are by Applegate Furniture, Sharon Fence, Swing On! Playsets and Ultimate Landscaping. For information, visit www.wtcpl.org.
