Niles inducts 5 into Hall of Fame
NILES ALUMNI EVENT: The Niles McKinley Alumni Association 22nd annual Distinguished Hall of Fame recognition dinner will be held 5 p.m. Sept. 1 at Ciminero’s Banquet Centre in Niles. Being inducted are Michael A. Cline Sr., Leslie J. Nagy Jr., Carmen F. Roberts III, Stephanie Danes Smith and Marie A. Rossi Vross. The inductees will be recognized at the season-opener football game Aug. 29 during the pregame activities. Tickets are $35 per person and available from Nancy at 330-501-1792. TRUNK AND TREASURE: All Saints Community Church, 4530 state Route 46, Cortland, will hold a trunk and treasure sale 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. Space is $10. Setup is 8 a.m. Call Amy at 330-984-8596. Food will be available.
LAWN CONCERT: The Cortland Community Band will entertain at 7 p.m. Wednesday on the side lawn at the Cortland United Methodist Church, 155 N. High St. Refreshments will be served. Bring a lawn chair or blanket. In case of rain, the event will be held at the Opera House.
POPSICLE DAY: McDonald Park will hold Popsicle Day for local children 1 to 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Woodland Park pavilion.
COLLECTION FOR FLOOD VICTIMS: The Northern Trumbull County Community Foundation, a member of the Community Foundation of Western Pennsylvania and Northern Ohio, is accepting donations to assist the victims of flooding in Kinsman.

CHAMPION PRIDE, BACK TO SCHOOL: The Champion Pride Council is inviting the community to help students secure needed back-to-school supplies. Council organizations have been collecting supplies from the schools’ supplies list throughout the month of July. All donations will be brought to Champion Christian Church on Friday, with distribution to take place Saturday. Local school students, Champion Rotary and Champion Historical Society are participating in the collection.
FAMILY REUNION: The 142nd Chalker Norton Viets family reunion will be held 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Aug. 11 at Kool Lakes Family Campgrounds in Garrettsville. Bring a covered dish to share.
A Chinese auction and 50-50 raffle will be held. Money will help the family reunion to grow. There will be a business meeting, updating genealogy records, and honoring the oldest and youngest person and family that came the farthest.
