FUN DAY: Mecca Community Church, 5920 Phillips Rice Road, will hold a family fun day today.

MESSAGE IN SONG: McKinley Community Church, 1524 Elm Road NE, Warren, will host Eric John Hawout to present a message in song for the 10:30 a.m. worship service Sunday. Guest pastor is the Rev. David Luther. After the service will be the annual church picnic at the home of the Rev. John and Janice Griffith, 8905 Stetson Drive NE in Howland. This year the church will be joined by members of Christ Memorial Baptist Church in Warren.

B'NAI B'RITH EVENT: The second annual B'nai B'rith picnic will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Buhl Park Shelter #2, 715 Hazen Road, Hermitage. Pa. The event will include musical entertainment. Those attending can bring a lawn chair. RSVP at 330-360-8836.

RETREAT SET: Villa Maria Education and Spirituality Center, 2067 Evergeen Road in Villa Maria, Pa., will host a conference retreat 7 p.m. Sunday to noon July 28 featuring Maureen Wildwith the musical support of Joyce Rouse. This retreat is entitled "Cosmic Symphony of Love Unfolding." The retreat opens the doorway to revelatory cosmic scriptures. Wild is originally from Alberta. WOMEN TO MEET: First Presbyterian Church, Mahoning Avenue, Warren, will have a Women of Faith meeting 10:30 a.m. Monday.

HOLY CONVOCATION: The Ohio Central East Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction Church of God in Christ under the leadership of Bishop David L. Herron Sr. will host the 2018 Holy Convocation 7 p.m. Monday to Friday. Monday is Convocation Musical featuring the OCE Jurisdiction Choir; Tuesday is guest speaker Pastor Aubrey Walker; Wednesday is national recording artist Pastor Jonathan Dunn; Thursday is Superintendent Michael Golden, International MPM Chairman COGIC; Friday is Bishop PA Brooks (First Presiding Bishop of the Church of God in Christ). July 28 is official day with speaker Bishop David Herron Sr. at 10 a.m.

CHURCH WORKSHOPS: Vienna United Methodist Church, 4265 Warren Sharon Road, will host one-night workshops focusing on life situations and provide attendees with tools and Biblical help to maneuver through difficult times. The workshops will be held 7 p.m. Thursdays. Topics will be July 26, "What Do I Say?" and Aug. 9, "Living with an Addict."

BENEFIT TO HELP WOMEN: Pink Door Ministry will hold a benefit auction 10 a.m. July 28 at NEO Retreat Center, 16278 Shilling Road, Berlin Center. The event will help transition women from human trafficking. Guests should bring their own chair to event.

BLOCK PARTY: Champion Church of the Nazarene, 3924 High St., will hold its annual block party 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 28. The event includes a petting zoo, Champion fire and police personnel and music.

CAR SHOW: Grace Lutheran Church, 11 Hall Ave., Hubbard, will host its third annual car show and basket raffle 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 28. Money raised will help send youth on service and mission trips.

KIDZFEST: The annual KidzFest will be 1 to 4 p.m. July 28 at Courthouse Square in Warren. There will be rides, games, food and musical entertainment. The event will be hosted by several area churches.

RE-OPENING CELEBRATION: Austintown Baptist Church, 1180 S. Raccoon Road will introduce their new pastor, the Rev. Chuck Homa and family, to the community at their re-opening celebration 1 to 4 p.m. July 28. There will be speakers, a tour of the church, music, games and a free meal.

CONCERT: New Life Community Church, 504 Youngstown-Kingsville Road, Vienna, will have a special concert with Joseph Habedank at 6 p.m. July 29. Habedank received the 2017 Dove Award for Album of the Year for his album "Resurrection". His album "Take Time to be Holy" features many hymns of the Christian faith. Also appearing will be the group "In Accord." Tickets are $5 and available at the church or at www.NewLifeVienna.com. Seating is limited.

TEMPLE PICNIC: Temple El Emeth, 3970 Logan Way in Liberty, will hold an indoor / outdoor picnic 6 p.m. July 29 with Minyan at 5:45 p.m. and entertainment by Daniel Shapira. RSVP at 330-759-1429 by Thursday.

BUS TRIP: Howland United Methodist Church is planning bus trip July 31 to Aug. 1 to see "Jesus" at the Sight and Sound Theater in Lancaster. The second show will be "The Wizard" at the Dutch Apple Dinner Theater. Call 330-856-2096.

URSULINE CENTER PROGRAMS: Ursuline Motherhouse, 4250 Shields Road, Canfield, will hold a Women's Spirituality Series in journaling 6:30 to 8 p.m. Aug. 2 and Sept. 6. Ursuline Sister Eileen Kernan will explore how the ancient tradition of journaling can help dialog with inner wisdom.

PASTORAL ANNIVERSARY:Elizabeth Missionary Baptist Church, 1210 Himrod Ave., Youngstown, will hold a pastoral anniversary soiree for Elder J. Dwayne Heard who will mark his 10th anniversary at the church. The soiree is set 6 to 11 p.m. Aug. 3 at Mahoning Country Club. The morning service is set for 10 a.m. Aug. 5 with speaker Pastor Everett Jennings of New Life Cathedral Church in Oakland Park, Ill. There will be a potluck following the service. Also being honored is First Lady Shahara Perry Heard.

CHURCH CARNIVAL: First Presbyterian Church of Girard, Churchill Road, will hold a children's carnival 2 to 4 p.m. Aug. 5.

SPIRITUAL BOOK CLUB: The Ursuline Center Spiritual Book Club will be 6:30 to 8 p.m. Aug. 6 at the Ursuline Center, 4280 Shields Road, Canfield. The club offers an opportunity for spiritual seekers to read, reflect and share in the discussion of spiritual books that explore the writings of the great spiritual thinkers, both contemporary and classic. The first few chapters of "Things Hidden, Scripture as Spirituality" by Richard Rohr will be discussed. Freewill offerings are accepted. For information and to register, contact Eileen W. SUMMER STUDY: Friendship Baptist Church, 1954 Brier St. SE, Warren, will present an 11-week focus group, "Issues in Focus."

The group is geared toward addressing relevant issues for people 18 to 25 years old at 9:30 a.m. Sundays through Aug. 12.
