WOLVES PROGRAM TO RAISE SCHOLARSHIP CASH: The Trumbull County Wolves Club, a nonprofit organization whose sole purpose is to raise money for scholarships and since 1984, as awarded over $400,000 worth of scholarships to Trumbull County students, is having an NCAA block pool fund raiser.
The cost will include dinner, an open bar, a chance to win $750 the first half and $750 the second half and there will be a 50/50 raffle.
The fundraiser will start at 7:45 p.m. on Monday 6 at DiLucia’s Restaurant. If interested in attending, please call Bill Massucci at 330-647-0770.
FARM BUREAU SCHOLARSHIPS: The Trumbull County Farm Bureau is reminding members of the Farm Bureau scholarships, available to all college students working toward an undergraduate degree.
Applicants must be members or his/her parents or guardians must be members of the Trumbull County Farm Bureau. Students must be full-time enrollees of any field in a two- or four-year college, university or technical school, working toward an undergraduate degree.
Applications may be acquired through a high school guidance counselor; www.trumbullfb.org; Facebook/trumbullcountyfarmbureau; or by calling the Farm Bureau office at 440-437-8700. The date for the completed application is April 27.
SUMMERS RECEIVES SCHOLARSHIP: Nathan Summers of Fowler, has received the $1,000 James E. Cook Scholarship in Young Adult Librarianship from Kent State University’s School of Library and Information Science. The scholarship is awarded to a student with a strong desire to specialize in teen librarianship, a strong interest in young adult literature and a passion for telling others about what he or she has read. The award requires an undergraduate GPA of a 3.0 or above.
Summers received an undergraduate degree in middle childhood education from Youngstown State University and is pursuing a master of library and information science with a specialization in young adult librarianship from Kent State University.
Currently residing in Waldorf, Md., Summers holds positions as a library assistant at L.E. Smoot Library in Kent George, Va., and is a consultant with IBM for the U.S. Department of Energy. He is a member of the Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA) and aspires to become a young adult librarian.
