2 min read

Dealers in Northern Ohio sold 18,892 new motor vehicles in October, according to data released this month by the Greater Cleveland Automobile Dealers' Association.

Compared to the same month a year prior, this represents a 7.21% decrease. Year to date, sales in the region slowed by 2.58% in 2026.

Used vehicle sales in the market dropped similarly, with a 7.94% decrease compared to last October, and a 2.07% dip year over year.

"New vehicle sales were off in October, as we face low consumer confidence and high gas prices," said Louis A. Vitantonio, president of the GCADA. "As predicted, the Northern Ohio market will be down overall for the remainder of 2026.

"With the slight inventory growth now is a good time to shop, as incentives will come into play on remaining 2026 model year vehicles."

Remaining Northern Ohio's best-selling brand, Chevrolet dealers sold 2,474 new vehicles in October. Honda captured second place for a second month in a row, with 2,023 new vehicles sold. Ford's total sales of 1,949 come in third, followed by Toyota and Kia with 1,668 and 1,633 sales respectively.

Boardman Subaru (157), Ken Ganley Kia of Boardman (126), Fairway Chevrolet GMC of Calcutta (117) were the top new vehicle sellers for October in the Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana counties. Klaben Ford Lincoln of Warren (73), Toyota of Warren (62) and Sim Buick GMC Truck (47) led Trumbull County dealerships in new vehicle sales for the month.

In used vehicle sales for October, Greenwood Chevrolet recorded 96 sales to take the top spot.

For year to date in the three-county area, Boardman Subaru and Ken Ganley Kia of Boardman surpassed the 2,000 mark in new and used vehicle sales with 2,637 and 2,234 units respectively.

Among the association's 240-plus dealerships in northern Ohio, the Medina Auto Mall recorded 5,631 used and new vehicle sales for the year. That's a drop of 1,137 sales compared to the same period last year.
