Penguin City Brewing Company announced Tuesday that it has begun renovations at its downtown Youngstown facility.
Co-owner Aspasia Lyras-Bernacki said in a news release that the project will bring significant improvements to the brewery’s taproom and ballroom, enhancing accessibility, convenience, and the overall guest experience.
MVP Contracting is leading the renovations, with architectural work by Annissa Neider of A Neider Architecture. The project is expected to be completed in the spring.
Lyras-Bernacki said that among the most anticipated improvements is the addition of restrooms directly within the rear ballroom area. Currently, guests attending weddings, concerts, graduations and private events must travel to the lower level to access restroom facilities. The new restrooms will provide a much-needed convenience for guests and event organizers alike.
Another major component of the project is the installation of a wheelchair lift to the second level.
The ballroom will also receive aesthetic improvements, including a new treatment to the back wall designed to create a more contemporary and elegant setting for weddings, receptions, and other special events.
“These are improvements we’ve wanted to make for quite some time,” Lyras-Bernacki said. “We’ve hosted countless weddings, concerts, graduations, and community events, and we know how important these upgrades are to the overall experience.
"The restrooms and accessibility improvements in particular are major steps forward for our facility. We’re excited to see everything come together.”
Additional renovations and enhancements will be announced as the project progresses.
“Our goal has always been to create a space where people can gather, celebrate, and experience something special in downtown Youngstown,” Lyras-Bernacki said.
